6 Beauty Routines to Adopt in Your 30s

As you approach or reach your 30s, you need to take better care of your skin and body to combat some natural effects of aging. These effects may include dull skin, breakouts, and dark marks under the eyes.

Here are a few ways to improve your beauty regime to protect your skin. Note that all of these items are found at your favorite beauty specialty and department stores, like Macy’s. Utilize coupons to save on these vital beauty tools.


Use a cleanser with salicylic or lactic acid because it helps brighten uneven skin tones and clears up breakouts. Apply a cleanser three times a day. Use it once in the morning, and twice at night. The first time you use it at night is to remove your makeup, and the second time is to absorb the effects of the cleanser. Make sure that the cleanser is soap free. Avoid milk or lotion based cleansers because they tend to be too hydrating and rich.

Sun Damage Protection

Use antioxidant serum. It helps reduce some of the damaging effects caused by UV rays. Make sure the serum includes vitamin C, vitamin E, and ferulic acid. Use one with lighter ingredients to avoid skin breakouts.

Use sunscreen that contains zinc and SPF 30+. Experts cannot find much proof that SPF 50 really works better than SPF 30, so stick with 30+ to avoid wasting money.

Eye Care

Use eye gels or creams to reduce puffiness, dark circles, and keep the eye area hydrated. Use eye creams with argireline and hyaluronic acid.

Dermatologist also recommend buying eye products with simple ingredients, like chamomile and argan oil.

Putting black caffeinated tea bags under the eyes is a natural eye treatment. Tea reduces puffiness because it works as an astringents and squeezes the body tissues.


Start by understanding your skin type and its special needs. Look for products with hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate because it helps bind moisture from the air to the lower layer of skin. Use moisturizers to combat skin dullness. Also use oils to help soften the skin.


Retinol helps build collagen. Collagens help firm our skins, and after 25, the production of them decrease. Look for products that help build them, especially ones with L-ascorbic acid (the purest form of vitamin C).

Don’t buy products that claim to have collagen. Only focus on ones that help naturally generate it.

AHA Products

As you age, cells generate slower, which leads to dead skin clogging the pores. This makes your skin appear dead and dull. Use alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) products to fight this issue.

Add these products to your routine two to three times a week. AHA products prevent dead skin cell buildup, minimize pore clogging, and helps skin texture. It also assists in cellular renewal.

Other beauty tips:

  • For dull skin, use fruit based peelers, such as pineapple enzyme, glycolic acid, and mushroom peels.
  • Drink 1.5 to 2 liters of water a day to help flush out toxins
  • Use mineral based makeup
  • Use organic hair products
  • Never go to sleep wearing makeup
  • Know how to use makeup to emphasize your features and hide your skin problems
